A Clean New Tunic
My tummy gave an awful, wet squelch right against the crisp autumn sycamore leaf, and... and everything gave way in an instant. I stammered little, frantic squeaks of apology to the sleeping elves, mortified that I'd ruined my wrap so quickly. Shuffling backward on wobbly knees, I slipped out into the morning ivy and untied the soiled leaf, burying it deep beneath damp dirt. Near a stone border, I discovered a tough, dry square of clean canvas burlap shed from a shrub cover. Trembling with clumsy fingers, I wrapped the rough, sturdy cloth snugly around my chest and knotted a fresh strand of dry twine tight over it. Spotless and covered once more, I crept back into our cozy hollow.
