A Breath of Air
My eyes focused on the light filtering through the window frame behind me. Felt stiff, like I’d been held in place for far too long. I drew a breath, testing my limbs, and lifted a hand to adjust the brim of my hat. My boots shifted slightly against the wooden floorboards beneath me. Glancing sideways, I reached out and let my fingers graze the cool frame of the glass pane. The world outside was quiet, but I was well and truly moving.
