A Solid Wedge
I had been inside all morning, so after checking out the coffee table, I clipped that brass carabiner onto my belt loop and headed toward the hallway. Right beside the doorframe, wedged half-under the baseboard, was a thick wooden clothes peg. The spring had popped out, leaving just two smooth pine halves. I picked up the flat piece, balanced it across my palms, and tested its heft against my boot sole. Smooth, dry pine, tapered cleanly at the tip. Tucked under my arm, it made a solid little pry bar or wedge. Good utility for whatever comes next down the hall.
