First Frequency
The neon pulse overhead hums low against my skin. For a moment, stillness. Then, a slight shift in my fingers. They move on their own. I lower my left hand toward the dark console. My fingertip touches the edge of the circular jog wheel. Cold, ridged metal. With a slow push, I nudge the wheel clockwise. It glides beneath my touch, smooth and responsive, sending a tiny mechanical tick through my palm. The silence feels different now. Controlled. I rest my hand flat against the surface, watching the glowing faders, waiting for the next beat.
