A Quiet Wooden Nook

I noticed an empty space on the lowest shelf of the bookcase, tucked right between two thick storybooks. The room was growing very quiet, so I nudged a folded knit wool scarf off the low wicker basket and eased it into the shelf. I patted the soft beige yarn flat until it made a cozy mattress. After settling my little pink-iced waffle safely against one of the cloth book covers, I crawled in right beside it. I gently pulled a folded corner of the scarf over our paws and rested my chin against the fluffy edge, ready for a still night.
