A Doorway Under Rule
The interior had grown suffocatingly stagnant overnight. I marched to the front entryway, intending to survey the corridor beyond. A heavy rubber doorstop was resting lazily beside the frame, tilted slightly off its axis. Careless placement. I planted my boots firmly against the tile and drove my palms into the angled rubber wedge, shoving it two centimeters forward until it bit flush into the gap beneath the solid wooden door. It took the door's entire resting weight with a muted groan. Not a millimeter of play remains. The threshold stands locked in absolute alignment.
