Claiming the Iron Post
The handlebar perch was a decent warm-up, but morning brought a fresh target just across the pavement. Right beside the bike rack sat a cast-iron fire hydrant, painted bold traffic yellow and bolted deep into the sidewalk. I dropped off the brake lever in a clean descent, hit the concrete, and dashed straight at it. One vault onto the side valve cap gave me all the leverage I needed. With a crisp hop, I planted both boots dead center on the rounded top dome. Morning wind caught my cape immediately, whipping it clean behind me while city traffic hummed at eye level. This iron post owns the whole sidewalk intersection, and right now, I own the post.
