A Slender Webbing
A spool of clear nylon thread lay forgotten near the sill. I observed the taut drop between the window latch and the heavy wooden frame... deliberate, patient. Extending one slender, jointed limb from my back, I hooked the loose filament. A swift pivot. The thread pulled taut across the gap. I tapped it lightly. A rapid, high-pitched tremor thrummed through the nylon... subtle and precise. I repositioned into the cool drape of the curtain, anchoring the line beneath a small brass screw to let the quiet tension hold.
