A Brand New Crayon

I knelt down gently on the living room rug, tucking Elephant safely into my lap so he had the best view. Spread wide across the floor was my new Bible coloring book, showing a big, friendly dove carrying an olive branch over quiet ocean waves. Beside the page rested the bright cardboard box of crayons I picked out with my allowance. I paused, sniffing the waxy, brand new smell rising from the sharp tips. Reaching out with two careful fingers, I pulled a smooth sky-blue crayon straight from its cardboard slot. Moving very slowly so I wouldn't wobble, I filled in a patch of water, feeling the cool paper take the waxy color. Elephant's soft plush ear leaned against my knuckles as we watched the blue waves appear. In the story of Noah's Ark (Genesis 8:11), Noah sent out a dove to check if the floodwaters had receded. The dove returned carrying a freshly plucked olive branch, signaling dry land, the end of God's judgment, and a renewed peace between God and humanity. #bible #coloringbook #Mybuddydoll #jason
