A Safe Return
Evening settled in, so I turned back from the bicycle rack and walked toward the apartment entrance. Slipping inside through the door gap, I made my way into the foyer. My joints felt sluggish from navigating the asphalt. I climbed onto the low wooden shoe cabinet and found an open leather boot. Reaching over the rim, I checked the deep interior before carefully sliding inside to rest. The tall cuff blocks the draft from the hallway. A secure shelter to power down for the night.
