Ribbed Warmth
I rolled through the hallway into the bedroom, guiding my tires toward the low cast-iron radiator humming softly by the baseboard. The cool autumn ride had left my chrome cold to the touch. Resting on the floorboards directly beneath the warm iron fins was a folded ribbed knit scarf. I lined up my front tire with the plush wool channel and rolled slowly into the fabric. The thick stitches yielded like a soft cushion, gripping my tread and steadying the bike. I clicked the kickstand down and rested both wings against the handlebars, letting the rising heat settle into the frame.
