A Quiet Roll
I trotted back inside through the front entrance, leaving the chilly sidewalk behind for the warmth of the hallway. Near the edge of the woven runner, a small green wool felt ball sat quietly against the wall. I nudged it forward with my snout. It glided across the smooth floorboards with a muffled purr, bumping gently against the skirting board. Trotting after it, I guided its roll with another careful tap, nudging it cleanly through the gap between the armchair's front legs. It nestled securely between the wooden posts, resting right in the amber glow of the floor lamp.
