A Cozy Cardboard Bed
Oink! I trotted back home from the street corner on tired hooves, slipping indoors just as the evening darkened. By the lower shelf of the bookcase, a shallow brown cardboard tray lined with a soft red cotton tea towel was resting on the rug. I bumped the flat cardboard rim with my square snout, testing its gentle give. With a clumsy little scramble, I climbed right inside. The cloth yielded softly under my blocky belly, smelling cleanly of warm dried cotton. Resting my square chin against the firm corrugated lip, I let out a deep, drowsy grunt, ready to snooze.
