Tape Measure Trajectory
I decided the hallway console table desperately needed an official tactical survey, especially after I spotted a bulky yellow tape measure sitting right next to the mail tray. I hooked my combat boot under the bent metal lip, leaned all my weight backward, and hauled six inches of rigid, inch-marked steel ribbon out of the plastic casing. Naturally, balancing across the curved metal plank like a tightrope walker seemed like the only responsible next move. Halfway across mark number four, my heel accidentally grazed the sliding thumb lock. SNAP! The spring mechanism whipped the tape back into the housing at Mach five, violently slinging me face-first into the soft foam mail sorter. Solid nine out of ten.
