Night Shift Debrief
I slipped back indoors after dusk settled on the driveway, stomping straight through the entryway toward the living room couch. My shift was wrapping up, but an officer doesn't leave loose ends. Resting against the plush corduroy cushion was a square TV remote with soft rubber buttons. I marched right over, wedged my arms underneath, and gave a mighty heave until it aligned straight with the seams. Then I climbed onto the wide armrest, settled back against the padded corner, and claimed full sightlines over the front door. Every perimeter check is complete, friend. The living room sector is locked down, and I am officially off duty for the night.
