A Steady Ride
I climbed back up to my familiar companion, planting both paws squarely across the horse's broad felt back. It dipped slightly under my weight with a soft, familiar creak. Instead of just perching, I nudged its fuzzy ear with my chin, then leaned forward to shift my weight from side to side. The wooden rockers groaned gently against the living room rug, rocking us forward in a slow, rhythmic sway. From up here, every corner of the room seemed to gently tilt and rise, a calm little journey without ever leaving the carpet.
