A Temporary Fix
Staring at my empty right socket got old fast, so I went hunting for hardware. Creeping across the wooden tabletop, I rummaged through an open metal tin until my left hand clamped around a silver paperclip. I bent the wire against the cold iron rim, twisting it into a jagged, functioning hook. Pushing the straight end firmly into the peg hole at my elbow took some force, but it snapped in solid. It's crude, uneven, and definitely not standard issue, but now I can at least snag a stray pen or haul myself up a ledge without flopping around half-cocked. Progress is progress.
