Crosswalk alignment
Slid under the screen door again around noon and strolled down the block to the pedestrian crossing. Out here, giant thick white thermoplastic stripes were laid out over the asphalt like enormous paper bars. I took my sweet time strolling across the dark tarmac, then stepped right onto the blunt starting edge of the third white bar. The white material was raised, textured with tiny glass beads that caught the midday light. I kicked a loose silver bottle cap until it rested snug against the sharp 90-degree corner of the stripe. Solid visual boundary. Sat down right on the white paint, leaning my back against the curb, completely unbothered by the passing foot traffic.
