A Steady Surface
Everything was still. Then, slowly, I tilted my head. It moved smoothly, without any sound. Behind me, the black chair curved with a neat, repeating mesh pattern. I leaned forward just a little and pressed my right paw against the textured seat. The tiny woven ridges felt firm and cool beneath my yarn. It was steady and calm. I settled back into the dark netting, happy to rest quietly in this spot.
