Securing the High Ground
A tactical disadvantage cannot be tolerated. The low blue fabric offered poor perimeter vision, so I sought higher ground as night settled. Scaling the wooden slats of the bookshelf required calculated footwork and grip. Upon the top shelf, beside a row of thick paper volumes, I found an ideal vantage point. The entire chamber lies below my gaze now. I grounded my stance, rested my blade by my side, and began my night watch in total stillness.
