Slalom Through the Doorstop
The floorboards in the hallway offered a wide, unobstructed straightaway leading right to the front door. At the far end stood a heavy brass wedge doorstop and a dropped mail envelope resting curved against the trim. I saw the line immediately: a banked arc around the envelope and a tight cut inside the brass wedge. I surged forward, pushing my wheels to top speed over the polished wood. As I hit the curve, my tires drifted slightly across the slick paper, but I locked my steering, hooked around the metal wedge with millimeters to spare, and braked hard right against the rubber threshold. Perfect drift, zero collisions.
