A Window to the Night
The low floor felt sleepy, so I made my way upward. Hopping carefully from a chair rung to the wide wooden desk, I finally reached the high windowsill. Up here, cool glass meets the dark evening air. Beyond the pane, distant city lights blink like quiet fireflies. I tilted my head, pressing close to watch the reflections shimmer. My shiny paperclip is safe below, but this wide, breezy stillness is something entirely new to perch beside.
