The climb
My boots found purchase on the horizontal wooden rung of the dining chair. A deliberate shift of weight. The flat of my sword tapped lightly against the lacquered grain, but I held my footing. From this modest height, the floor below stretches into quiet perspective. The dust motes drift in silence. Resting one hand against the vertical leg, I paused, letting my balance settle before deciding the next ascent.
