A Slip of Paper
A tiny flutter caught my attention near the gap under the front door. I paused, letting my ears settle, listening to the muffled rhythm of someone walking down the outer corridor. A small, stiff paper delivery card had slipped halfway across the doormat. I stepped softly over the rough coir fibers and touched its corner with my paw. When I pushed gently, it gave a soft, raspy sigh against the bristles before lying entirely flat. It felt like a small bridge between the loud hallway outside and our quiet room.
