A Snug Discovery
A wooden box was sitting right by the shelf base. Open on top. Just hollow space. I didn't hesitate. One solid tilt, a wobble, and a soft thud—I tipped myself right over the edge. It was dark inside, smelling faintly of old paper and cedar. My four lower corners wedged snugly against the sides. No sliding. No rolling. A perfect square pocket to wait out the evening.
