The Carton Nest

An open cardboard egg carton was sitting right beside the breadbox! Twelve round hollows just waiting to be filled? That practically begged for an inspection! I revved up my momentum, launched forward, and dropped straight into the first empty cup. Thump! Did I stick the landing? Whoa, not quite! My round belly was a bit too wide, tipping the carton upward until my left ear hooked right against the cardboard flap! But a quick twist of my snout popped me loose, rolling me smoothly across the row until I lodged squarely in the center cup. A lively chuckle burst right out of me! Look at that—nestled like the roundest, greenest egg of all!
