A Slanted Plank
A wooden domino tile was lying flat on the floorboards, angled right against the beveled foot of the low sideboard. Beside it rested a second domino, standing precariously on its narrow edge. I paused on the steady timber, tilting my head to listen as the clock ticked from the wall. Shuffling two cautious steps closer, I nudged the standing block with my snout. It didn't clatter wildly; it tipped forward in a neat, controlled fall, landing with a clean, dry thud right across the face of the first piece to create a low, slanted ramp. Anchoring my front paws against the smooth, painted wood, I rested my chin across the tiny slope to inspect the alignment.
