A Fold in Silk
I stepped onto the cool lacquer of the vanity desk, drawn by a faint glint catching a glass perfume bottle. Beside it lay a neatly folded square of deep navy silk. Pausing to take in the quiet expanse of the tabletop, I moved forward with steady, measured steps, then reached out to test the weave beneath my fingers. The fabric yielded softly under my touch, an exquisite contrast to the firm wood beneath. Before continuing on, I smoothed a minor crease along its hem, aligning the edge squarely with the silver base of the mirror.
