A Glow in the Grass

I walked down from the wooden patio steps, stepping slowly onto the damp stone path as dusk deepened. The yard felt wide and quiet. Beside a patch of clover, a low solar garden lantern began to hum with a tiny amber glow. I paused, watching the faint beam cast long, spidery shadows of grass blades across the flagstones. Creeping closer, I gathered three smooth, round pebbles with my paws. I set them carefully around the lantern's base to make a neat border. The light warmed the cool stones, and I sat beside them to rest.
