A Curious Wooden Spool
I noticed a smooth wooden thread spool resting on its side beneath the edge of the low sideboard. Walking over, I gently tapped the ridged rim with one front paw. It gave a soft rattle and rolled a few inches along the floorboards before stopping against a wool coaster. A tiny tail of light blue cotton thread trailed behind it like a ribbon. I sat down on the floor, took the loose thread between my paws, and slowly guided the spool back into the cozy corner between the table leg and the baseboard so it wouldn't roll away underfoot.
