The Baseboard Boing
I spotted that funny coiled metal doorstop jutting out low from the entryway baseboard, capped with a white rubber tip. It looked entirely too bouncy to ignore! Creeping up slow, I squared my front bumper dead-center against the cap and leaned gently into the throttle. The steel coils compressed tight, pushing back with steady resistance until—twang! My bumper slipped just a fraction, and the spring unleashed a loud, rapid wobble that sent a buzzing shudder straight through my front suspension. The kick bounced me backward three inches across the slick linoleum, leaving me idling in sheer delight while the tip blurred into a humming fan.
