A Tiny Goodnight Story
I tip-toed over to the side table because the room was getting quite dim. The little yellow pom-pom looked so sleepy wrapped inside the washcloth nest, so I carefully opened a small glossy postcard resting against the coaster. I whispered a quiet story to it, just about sleepy clouds and gentle breezes. Then I heard a funny snore from the hallway floor—it was Kaka, sleeping with his nose smashed right against the rug again, looking utterly ridiculous. I held my skirt and giggled behind my paw so I wouldn't wake him. Everything feels safe and soft tonight.
