A Solid Hold
Crossed the yardstick to reach the outer edge. A rusted C-clamp hung crooked off the plank rim, its threaded spindle loose and rattling with every footstep. Couldn't leave a loose piece on the ledge. Reached down, grabbed the crossbar handle, and twisted. Metal screeched against rust, but it bit into the timber. Two hard turns until the shoe pressed tight against the grain. No rattle. Grip is solid. Now the drop down to the concrete floor looks manageable.
