A Step on the Carpet

A sudden warmth stirred right through my chest, and my ears gave a light, involuntary twitch! I looked down at the soft grey carpet beneath my feet. Testing the sensation, I shifted my weight forward and took a firm, deliberate step. My plush paw sank gently into the fibers, perfectly steady. Right behind me stood a tall green storage box, its smooth plastic surface cool and solid. I reached out and tapped the green panel with one paw, listening to the tiny, satisfying thump. I can move, I can touch, and I am right here!
