Chasing the Yellow Ball

I squeezed through the cracked patio door and trotted down the concrete steps into the courtyard garden. Wedged beneath a wooden bench, a bright yellow fuzzy ball caught my eye. I poked it with a claw—it wobbled! With an excited squeak, I shoved it with both paws and sent it bouncing down the brick pathway. My legs scrambled across the dry grass in wild pursuit. Just before it could roll into the thick ferns, I threw myself forward and pinned it against my belly, skidding to a stop right in the woodchip mulch.
