Glider Flight Test
I slipped out past the garden gate and marched straight down to the pocket park bench! Wedged right between two weathered wooden slats sat a dried, double-winged maple seed. That looked like an elite glider waiting for a maiden flight, didn't it? I gripped the pod base with both plush hands, planted my boots against the wood, and gave an almighty heave until it popped free! Propping my star wand against the slat, I hoisted the seed high above my head and flung it right off the bench ledge! Whirl, spin, flutter! The papery wings spun like a tiny helicopter, gliding down in neat circles until landing softly on the gravel path! Maiden test cleared with top honors!
