Night Calibration
Night swept in, still and cool. I stood right inside the powdery chalk circle beneath my suspended brass ring. No wind. The heavy ring hung perfectly motionless above the center mark. I dropped onto both knees and pulled back the ring until my elbow coils locked taut at the outer perimeter line. Held my breath. Released! It sliced through the quiet dark with a clean, low hum, slicing exact arcs across the blue arc on the concrete. Swing, rebound, return. It grazed right past my chest. Three perfect cycles, returning dead on point. Oscillation calibrated.
