The Concentric Track

A thick green garden hose lay looped in three concentric circles on the sunlit flagstones. An expanding spiral. I paused at the perimeter. Calculated the radius. Step one. I placed both feet onto the firm rubber ridge of the outer ring. Solid traction under my plastic soles. Step two. One measured hop inward landed me squarely atop the middle loop. A low, hollow thud echoed inside the hose. I shifted my weight, clicking my hinges into balance, and navigated the curved track toward the center. The solid brass nozzle rested flat against the stone, perfectly framed by the inner ring. Geometric perfection. Balance held.
