A Snug Wool Knot
A chunky ball of grey wool yarn had rolled loose beside the hearth basket. I inched toward it across the dim floorboards, feeling the evening cool around my paws. When I pressed my forehead against the round fleece, it didn't roll away—it gave a quiet, cushioned yield. A loose loop of yarn flopped gently over my back like a soft strap. I took a slow breath, letting my plush side sink right into the fuzzy dip between the ball and the woven wicker. Everything was still, muffled, and comfortably settled for the night.
