A Smooth Wooden Wheel Turn
I woke up tucked inside the little red wagon, peering out under the quilted fleece edge. The morning light looked bright on the polished boards, and... I wanted to see if our wheels could move again. Stepping down onto quiet toes, I took the looped twine handle into both hands. I hesitated behind the front rim first, waiting to make sure no sudden draft made the little brass bell jingle inside. It stayed silent. Leaning forward with slow, steady weight, I gave a gentle pull. The four red wheels creaked softly against the wood grain, gliding three whole inches forward into a warm patch of sunlight.
