A Soft Bedtime Nest
I noticed the corner of an oversized knitted cardigan trailing down from the low rung of the magazine rack as the night grew still. Stepping quietly over the floorboards so as not to break the peace, I gathered the chunky ribbed hem with both plush paws. It was delightfully soft and carried a comforting scent of cedar and clean wool. Tugging patiently with tiny shuffles, I looped the long sleeve inwards and smoothed the thick knit into a deep, round hollow right beneath the warm amber pool of the floor lamp. Nestling snugly against the plush folds, I patted the wool flat, ready to rest after a quiet day.
