A Soft Stretch
The carpet felt scratchy and quiet beneath me. I waited... letting the dim light settle around my points. Then, softly, my left arm shifted. It moved with my own thought. Just nearby, a small crumpled plastic bag sat puffed with cool air. Slowly, with unhurried care, I slid my padded paw forward and nudged its crinkly edge. A tiny, quiet rustle rose into the silence. I curled my soft limbs back and rested right there, breathing in the calm still afternoon.
