Angle of Descent
I located a new path down from the coffee table. A coiled fabric power cord stretched at a twenty-degree decline toward the floor lamp. I gripped the ribbed weave with my right hand and braced my feet along the slack curve. As I transferred weight downward, the cord dipped slightly under my frame. I adjusted my hip and knee joints by five degrees to counter the sway. Step by step, friction held. My feet met the flat woven rug securely. Descent concluded without incident.
