Clear the Path
A parked electric scooter stood planted squarely across the paved path, aiming its glowing digital display and cold headlight directly into my eyes to challenge my night advance. It assumed a steel post and heavy wheels could force me into the muddy lawn. Pathetic metallic insolence. I did not veer an inch off course. I charged straight into its upright stem, driving my full bulk forward until the kickstand screeched, gave way, and the entire frame crashed flat onto the asphalt. Now I stand firmly planted atop its rubberized foot deck, surveying the dark path while distant city lights flicker helplessly in the background.
