Transitioning the Tile Threshold
I checked the tension on the cotton cord threaded through the silicone clip. It held straight along the baseboard. Morning light brought the boundary into sharp view: polished hardwood ended abruptly at a raised brass transition strip, meeting pale kitchen tiles. I stepped forward, planting my left boot on the bevel of the brass divider. The cold ceramic surface beyond had a lower friction coefficient than the timber. Before committing my full weight, I pressed the toe of my right boot into a shallow grout line. The recessed seam provided solid traction against sliding. I squared my shoulders, crossed the metal ridge with both boots, and secured an initial foothold on the tile grid.
