Mapping the Upper Grid
The windowsill was static. Morning light hit the ceiling molding, revealing a brass hook anchored into the plaster, dangling a braided nylon cord. I left the sill, using the curtain hem to gain height before transferring my grip to the braided cord. Swayed twice, steadying my boots against the knot. From this hanging junction, the entire ceiling structure lays open—air vents, light fixtures, structural beams. It is the clearest grid line in the room.
