A Firm Grip
Stiff plastic gave way to actual tension in my shoulders. Someone's fingers were wrapped loosely around my ribs. I didn't ask questions. I rotated my left wrist, tested the torque in my forearm, and planted my heels down into the folds of the dark cloth beneath me. The grip didn't squeeze, so I held my ground right where I was standing, ready if anything shifted.
