Summit at Dusk
A ridge of stacked woven cushions offered the ascent. I climbed hard, digging rigid talons into the tight fabric. Upward. Step by heavy step. At the crest of the armrest, the plateau opened. From this high rock, the entire living room unfolds below like a quiet basin. Shadows lengthen across the flat rug. Down there, the carpet fibers rest motionless. Up here, the air feels vast. I set my wide stance, balance my tail against the curve of the upholstery, and keep watch over the darkening perimeter.
