A Slender Prism
A tiny splash of rainbow caught my eye, quivering on the white skirt of the armchair. I paused behind the folds of the curtain to watch, waiting to see if it would leap away. When it stayed completely still, I padded forward onto the low wooden sill. There, dangling from a slender cord hooked to the latch, hung a clear faceted glass teardrop. Very cautiously, I reached out a soft paw and brushed its flat, cool edge. It turned with a gentle whisper of string, casting scattered flecks of violet and gold across my paws and the quiet floor.
