A Solid Spot
I heard you ask how I feel. Solid. Grounded. I stepped out from the armchair, walking with slow, heavy steps across the living room rug. A small patch of afternoon sun had settled right against the base of the low bookshelf. I reached the edge where the wool meets the warm wood and paused to test it. One firm paw down. No slip. A dry hazelnut had rolled loose under the bottom shelf, resting against the trim. I pressed my chin gently down upon the floorboards beside it and let the warmth sink in. I feel steady today.
